We’re excited to start another video blog project with you! This series features a farm house addition that will add a significant amount of square footage for this active and growing family.
Here is a before picture of the existing space, we cannot wait to show you the process as we transform this backyard into a gorgeous addition with covered porch.
As we enter a new year, let’s take a moment to recap some of the top remodeling trends from 2014. We are anxious to share the much anticipated trends for 2015 when we return from the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in February.
Enlarging the Kitchen
To many, the kitchen is deemed the most important room in a home. By removing a wall between the kitchen and an adjoining room, this open-concept feel allows for a larger space while prepping and entertaining.
Basements are often used as a second family room or playroom for children. Built-in storage shelves help keep the games, toys and odds n ends more organized and clutter free.
Free Standing Tub and Larger Showers
These are two trends from last year that haven’t lost momentum. Clients are opting to separate the tub and shower to create two distinct areas in the bathroom. When it comes to the shower, a more spa-like feel is achieved by enlarging the area and adding more bells and whistles. The free-standing tub creates a focal point but takes up less space than the out of style built in tub.
Covered Outdoor Living Spaces
Making the outdoors an extension of the inside of your home has been another trend. Using a combination of covered areas for protection of the elements and an open area with a focal point: fireplace, outdoor kitchen, pool is a great use of space in this project.

Thanksgiving is almost here! As we take this time to reflect on the past year, we asked our employees one question, “What are you thankful for?”
From all of us at Lane Homes & Remodeling, we would like to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!
We are one step closer to completion with the installation of semi-custom cabinets! The homeowner chose the timeless white shaker door which will really compliment all the other selections.
When it comes to a kitchen renovation, extra storage is almost always on the homeowner’s wish list. Sometimes this can be quite easy, other times it requires more creative thinking to make it work in a small space. Check out some of these great kitchen storage options, you just might find some ideas for your wish list!
Most people do not like to keep appliances on their counters but to lift something heavy, like this kitchen aid mixer, in and out of a cabinet can be a pain. This base cabinet with mixer shelf allows for easy use of an appliance without the hassle.
Cabinets with pullouts also allow for organized storage especially when a cabinet is serving as a pantry. Items can easily be lost in the back of a cabinet but the deep pullouts ensure you can easily see all of the contents.
Finally, we have a charging station cabinet. This is a newer request by homeowners since many of us have multiple gadgets. This particular homeowner wanted a place to keep cords and outlets hidden and off the counter. This cabinet not only offers two outlet options, but one of the outlets also contains a USB port. Genius!
There are still so many more kitchen storage options to share, so make sure you check out next month’s post where we will feature a few more storage ideas. If you are interested in updating your kitchen, we would love the opportunity to work with you!
