Lane Homes & Remodeling, Inc. ~ New President

TEd - Edward piche board gathered for their annual meeting last week and came to a unanimous decision to vote Edward A. Lane IV the new President / CEO of Lane Homes & Remodeling, Inc.

Over the past few years, Edward has been leading the company into the future by adding critical members to the team while evaluating and improving current processes. Having learned the business via OJT from bottom to top, his understanding of the remodeling industry and the added benefits of new technology and social media combined with his people skills and his quiet, thoughtful demeanor make him a perfect fit to build on the Lane Homes & Remodeling reputation. Lane Homes & Remodeling is a family-owned and operated design/build firm that has been serving customers in Richmond and the surrounding counties since 1984. The focus has been in the building and remodeling of kitchens, master suites, family rooms, attic and basement build-outs, baths, and outdoor living spaces, as well as whole house remodels. “We are known for our creative designs, quality craftsmanship and high level of service, with honesty and integrity as its foundation,” said Edward.

While Ed Lane III (70) will be stepping down as President, he will still remain on the Board and an active component in the company. Ed said, “I have been blessed with the opportunity to have worked with my son and to have been his mentor for many years. With his ability, energy and enthusiasm, Edward will be better than I ever was.”

Top Remodeling Trends in 2014

As we enter a new year, let’s take a moment to recap some of the top remodeling trends from 2014. We are anxious to share the much anticipated trends for 2015 when we return from the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in February.

Enlarging the Kitchen
To many, the kitchen is deemed the most important room in a home. By removing a wall between the kitchen and an adjoining room, this open-concept feel allows for a larger space while prepping and entertaining.

Built-In Storage
Basements are often used as a second family room or playroom for children. Built-in storage shelves help keep the games, toys and odds n ends more organized and clutter free.

Free Standing Tub and Larger Showers
These are two trends from last year that haven’t lost momentum. Clients are opting to separate the tub and shower to create two distinct areas in the bathroom. When it comes to the shower, a more spa-like feel is achieved by enlarging the area and adding more bells and whistles. The free-standing tub creates a focal point but takes up less space than the out of style built in tub.

Covered Outdoor Living Spaces
Making the outdoors an extension of the inside of your home has been another trend. Using a combination of covered areas for protection of the elements and an open area with a focal point: fireplace, outdoor kitchen, pool is a great use of space in this project.
